Reach stacker reloading in disassembled

Reach stacker reloading in disassembled
Novorossiysk Moskow

Client Requirement

Import of a disassembled reach stacker with reloading (перетарка) onto a new low-bed trailer for onward transport. Total cargo weight exceeded 50 tons, divided into sections (base frame, boom, counterweight, and other components). The client required minimization of damage risks and full compliance with customs regulations.

Work Process by BSF

The BSF team performed the reloading in port in full compliance with all safety regulations and the equipment manufacturer's specifications.

Inspection and verification: Checked the actual number of sections against shipping documents. Each section was marked and photographed before work began.

Site preparation: Ensured a level asphalt surface with a load capacity of at least 10 t/m². Wooden supports (railway ties) were placed under sections for temporary storage.

Equipment selection: For sections up to 5 tons, a heavy-duty forklift was used; for 5–20 tons, a pneumatic-tired mobile crane was used. A spreader beam and adjustable slings were applied for long-length components (boom).

Slinging: Each section was slung exclusively using the manufacturer's designated lifting points (lugs / eyebolts). Wrapping slings around hydraulics, pipelines, cabin, or axles was prohibited. The boom was slung at two points using a spreader beam.

Lifting and transfer: Smooth lifting with a test lift of 2–3 cm, with tag lines used to prevent swinging. Jerking and impacts were avoided.

Lowering: Sections were lowered onto supports at least 100 mm thick. Supports under the base frame were placed strictly under the side members to protect the transmission housing.

Securing: Sections were secured using chain/ratchet straps through the lugs (minimum 4 points per section). The counterweight was chocked with wooden blocks.

Documentation: A reloading report was prepared documenting condition (dents, chips, seals). "Before" and "after" photo documentation was carried out.

Result

The reloading was completed without a single instance of damage in 6 hours. The cargo was successfully loaded onto the low-bed trailer and handed over to the client with full documentation for customs. BSF saved the client 20% of logistics time through optimized processes.
