Imagine your cargo from China needs to be at the warehouse in a week, not two months. Air cargo transportation is the real "superpower" of logistics, ideal for urgent deliveries and high-value goods. International air cargo reduces transit time to 3–7 days instead of several weeks by sea or rail.
Organization of Air Cargo Transportation
Organizing air cargo transportation is easier than it seems with our company. BSF handles all stages of delivery — from loading control to customs clearance in the Russian Federation and final delivery to the consignee. We deliver goods door-to-door via Sheremetyevo and Domodedovo airports, including insurance and online tracking.
If you need to organize international air cargo from Moscow, we can help as well. We will prepare the export declaration, select a flight, and arrange cargo receipt in the destination country.
Based on our experience, most air cargo arrives in Russia from China, the UAE, Kyrgyzstan, and Armenia.
Cost of Air Cargo Transportation
The cost of international air cargo ranges from $3 to $10 per kg when shipping from China or Asia, depending on shipment weight, route, and cargo category. The base rate covers only freight, while the final price includes export formalities, insurance, and door-to-door delivery.
The heavier the cargo, the lower the cost per kilogram. Shipping small consignments up to 100 kg is more expensive per kg, while rates for 500 kg and above drop significantly.
Additional costs to consider include customs fees (from $90), terminal handling, and insurance (0.1–0.5% of cargo value).
At BSF, we provide a full cost breakdown with no hidden fees.
Air Delivery Transit Times
International air cargo is the fastest delivery method, with the entire cycle from dispatch to door delivery typically taking 3 to 7 days. On direct intercontinental flights, cargo can arrive within 24 hours, but the final timeline depends on the route, flight type, and customs clearance.
Express air delivery allows cargo to be received in 1–3 days, while standard consolidated air freight typically takes 3–7 days. Customs clearance can add anywhere from a few hours to several days, depending on document completeness and readiness. The "last mile" from the airport to the consignee's warehouse adds another 1–2 days.
The overall timeline is also affected by the key stages of transportation:
- Cargo pickup and delivery to the airport
- Export formalities (typically 1–2 days)
- The flight itself (average 1–2 days)
- Import clearance (typically 1–3 days)
